For centuries the Ottoman Empire dominated most of Eastern Europe and the Middle East and was a thorn in the side of the Grand Alliance of Western Europe. Although thwarted by defeats in battles against the Austrians and Muscovites and their defeat by Sobieski's Poles at Vienna in 1683. The Ottoman Turks instigated positive reforms based on the European Armies. Their Empire lived on for another 150 years.
